After finishing my games against Barry, I decided to have my second break before playing Kanak for the second time.  Feeling somewhat refreshed after this 28 minute break, I was ready to face the second and most difficult night of my challenge. My mind was telling me that once I had completed 48 hours of my challenge, I would almost be there!

Between 8.00 pm on Saturday and 2.00 am on Sunday I was playing Harley and Jordan Bryant.

When I was looking for opponents to play, I did not originally think of Harley and Jordan because I did not know that they played chess.  The twins are both excellent badminton players and before my stroke I partnered both of them, on different occasions, in badminton matches against rival teams in the Boston League. If my memory serves me correctly, we won most of the games we played in!  As chess players, I had no idea of their ability, but I was taking nothing for granted. After three hours of play against Harley I won three games and lost one.  All four games were very competitive.

I started playing Jordan at 11.00 pm and we had three very enjoyable, competitive games of which I won three, drew one and lost one.

Between 2.00 am on Sunday morning and 8.00 am I played Chris Dorrington and David Fisher both for the second time. I would say that I am always a confident person, particularly when I set my mind to achieving a particular end like breaking the world, chess marathon record.  But, of course, things can go wrong and through no fault of our own we might be defeated. However, once I had reached the 48 hour mark I was as certain as I could be that the record was within my reach!  Only 10 hours left to go!  A mere drop in the ocean of time.
